Hair Treatment using PRP
Hair Treatment using Platelet rich plasma (PRP) treatments for thinning hair is a state-of-the-art regenerative treatment to trigger hair follicles to function as they should. PRP is a blood product made by drawing a small quantity of blood, similar to a standard blood test, which is then spun in a centrifuge. The centrifuge separates the red blood cells from platelets and plasma. The platelet rich plasma is rich in proteins and growth factors and is then used to treat the early stages of hair loss. PRP for hair loss is both natural and minimally invasive. PRP works to harness your body’s own healing properties to stimulate a higher level of hair production and slow the advancement of hair loss.
How Does it Help Hair Loss?
When injected into the scalp, PRP stimulates hair follicles to produce hair strands. The first stage of hair loss appears as thinner, finer hairs. If you notice you are shedding a great deal of hair, have finer hair, or see the part in your hair is widening, it is critical that you act now. The earlier your hair loss is treated with PRP, the better the results.
What Can I Expect from PRP?
During your initial consultation, Dr. Verduzco will evaluate the degree of hair loss and develop a treatment plan for you. In general, it is recommended that patients receive treatment once per month for the first three to four months, and once every six months following the initial phase.
The entire procedure can be performed in less than an hour with little to no impact upon your schedule or normal activities. Many patients are able to return to work the same day they have their procedure performed. Since PRP for hair loss uses your own blood, there is no risk of a negative reaction to the procedure.
You may experience mild soreness and redness at the injection site. You should avoid normal hair maintenance for a day or two following PRP therapy. A warm shower can help to stimulate the area and help the healing process.
